Morning Has Broken

Morning has broken,
Like the first morning,
Blackbird has spoken
Like the first bird;
Praise for the singing,
Praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing
Fresh from the Word.

Sweet the rain’s new fall,
Sunlit from heaven,
Like the first dewfall
On the first grass;
Praise for the sweetness,
Of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness
Where his feet pass.

Mine is the sunlight,
Mine is the morning,
Born of the one light
Eden saw play;
Praise with elation,
Praise every morning,
God’s re-creation
Of the new day.

    1. I captured this one a few year ago, and was surprised when I viewed it on my PC. It was a rather miserable morning, so I was pleasantly pleased at the result.

    1. Thanks Huguetta – it’s sung at a lot of funerals over here. It was originally written as a poem, and then adapted as a hymn. It’s very uplifting.

      Here’s a version of it by Cat Stevens – he’s otherwise known as Yusuf Islam:

      1. Oh wow! Thank you for sharing! It’s so beautiful
        It is uplifting and the lyrics are full of hope and life but while hearing it, you feel a bit sad, probably the music composition but it’s really amazing! Thank you for sharing 😊🙏🏻
